The Issue

Every day, as a resident of Santa Clara County, I drive on roads that are not only deteriorating but are also a daily risk to my vehicle and family’s safety. Like many others, I've faced costly repairs due to potholes and poor road maintenance. It's immensely frustrating to witness our hard-earned tax dollars being underutilized while our roads remain hazardous.

The condition of our roads affects us all. Despite paying taxes specifically for infrastructure, Santa Clara County streets continue to degrade, damaging our cars, obstructing traffic, and posing safety risks. According to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, nearly 70% of local roads are in poor or mediocre condition, affecting thousands of residents.

Immediate action is needed. We urge local and state governments to:
1. Prioritize urgent repairs on roads in disrepair.
2. Implement a transparent budgetary process for tax dollars allocated to road maintenance.
3. Develop a compensation program for residents whose vehicles have been damaged by these unsafe roads.

Our community deserves roads that are safe, reliable, and well-maintained. We demand accountability and clarity in how our tax dollars are spent. It’s time for our leaders to address these issues head-on and provide the infrastructure we deserve.

Join us in urging our government to take responsibility and make sure every tax dollar is working towards creating safer streets. Sign and share this petition to call for real change and hold those in power accountable.
