We, like many of you in Nuneaton and surrounding towns, have cherished our community recycling hub for the past six years. It was more than just a recycling facility, it was a symbol of our collective commitment to sustainability and a greener future. Today, its absence echoes louder than the activities that once filled it.

The recycling hub was not merely a convenience; it played a significant role in the management of our local waste resources. A study by Recycle Now states that approximately 540,000 tonnes of recyclable plastic waste ends up in landfills in the UK every year. Our community facility, bustling with activity, contributed towards lowering this number - by almost 10 tonnes, serving as a beacon of eco-consciousness in our locality.

It is distressing and disheartening to witness the consequences of its closure, the repercussions of which are more than just personal to me. The bullying and the mistreatment that led to its forced closure are unacceptable. We cannot stand by and watch the eradication of such an influential cornerstone of our collective environmental efforts.

We call upon the Bermuda Phoenix Centre committee to restore access to our popular community recycling facility. Let this petition be our voice, clear and resolute in stating that we will not stand by as the environmental health and unity of our community are undermined.
