We, the undersigned veterinarians, are writing to express our profound concern over the recent direction, actions, and governance of NOMV, Inc.

​NOMV was founded as a grassroots haven—a sacred, peer-led space created by and for veterinary professionals facing mental health crises, burnout, and systemic occupational stress. It was built on trust, psychological safety, and mutual support.

​Recent events have shattered that trust. The sudden, unannounced dismantling of the groundbreaking Lifeboat peer-support program—developed by world-class veterinary social work and suicide prevention researchers—without consulting its creators or giving volunteers an opportunity to secure funding, demonstrates a grave disconnect from NOMV's core mission. Furthermore, the retaliatory removal and silencing of foundational leaders, past presidents, and long-standing volunteers who voiced legitimate concerns highlights a culture of corporate opacity that has rendered this once-safe community toxic. 

​Our Demands:

​A Public Statement and Full Transparency:

1)  We demand that the Executive Board and specifically the CEO release an immediate, public statement directly addressing the community regarding:​The justification for shutting down the Lifeboat program and the planned disposition of its proprietary training materials.
​The official reasons behind the removal and termination of long-standing volunteers, committee leaders, and past presidents.
​Clear financial and operational transparency regarding budget decisions affecting vital peer-support programs

2) ​Restoration of Veterinary-Led Leadership: NOMV must return to its roots. We call for the immediate restructuring of NOMV, Inc. leadership and board positions to ensure that veterinarians hold the majority decision-making power

3) ​An Official Apology and Acknowledgment of Harm: We demand a formal apology from NOMV leadership to the founders, past leaders, volunteers, and the broader veterinary community for cultivating a punitive, toxic environment, severing lines of communication, and dismantling critical peer-support infrastructure without accountability.

​NOMV belongs to the veterinary community, not corporate interests. We urge the leadership to take immediate action to address these demands and restore the sacred trust of the profession you were entrusted to serve.
