Thank you to the Sydenham to Bankstown Alliance for organising yesterday's forum on the Metro Southwest. A strong community voice present to call for the preservation of heavy rail services on T3 Bankstown Line to the City Circle and to oppose overdevelopment. Speakers included: Peter Olive (SBA), Colin Schroeder (EcoTransit Sydney), Barbara Coorey (Save Sydney Coalition), Jihad Dib (Lakemba MP), Sophie Cotsis (Canterbury MP), Clr. Khal Asfour - Mayor of the City of Canterbury Bankstown, Kevin Moss, Roydon Ng (Restore Inner West Line - Liverpool via Regents Park) and others...

The forum unanimously supported the following motion.

That the meeting:

• Does not support the conversion of the Sydenham to Bankstown line to a Metro
• Calls on the government to build new rail lines to suburbs that don't currently have them
• Calls on the State Government not to sign construction contracts for the Sydenham to Bankstown Metro conversion prior to the March election
