The contrast between North Shore and Western Sydney could not be greater because of Gladys Berejiklian’s attacks on public transport.
Gladys Berejiklian and Andrew Constance are increasing City-bound train services on the T1 North Shore Line to 20 trains per hour in 2019.
But if you’re from Western Sydney, you’d be better off in the 1930s.
Trains from Berala to City were faster and more direct. Liverpool had 3 lines to City, it lost the Regents Park route with the Inner West Line cut in 2013 and soon it will lose the Bankstown route with the Sydenham-Bankstown Metro cut to the Bankstown Line. Commuters trying to travel on Liverpool via Regents Park (shortest route to City) have to interchange at Birrong, Lidcombe and Strathfield.
Express trains have been cut from Lidcombe, Auburn, Granville and Liverpool in the 2017 timetable. And the Sydenham-Bankstown Metro will force 19,000 commuters to interchange as it takes away all trains to City for 9 stations west of Bansktown.
It’s time to fight back against Berejiklian’s attack on Western Sydney, we need to #RestoreInnerWestLine and #SaveT3
