Restore ICEBlock in the App Store — Community Alerts Are Not a Crime

The Issue

Apple has removed the ICEBlock app from its App Store under pressure from the Trump administration — silencing a tool used by over 1 million people to receive community alerts about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity.

ICEBlock did not share personal information about agents. It did not promote harassment or violence. It simply notified users within a 5-mile radius when ICE activity was reported nearby — allowing families, legal advocates, and communities to stay informed.

Now, following demands from Attorney General Pam Bondi and other Trump officials, Apple has pulled the app — citing vague “safety concerns” without evidence that ICEBlock violated policy or endangered agents.

We, the undersigned, call on:

Apple CEO Tim Cook
The Apple App Review Board
The U.S. Department of Justice

to:

  • Immediately reinstate the ICEBlock app in the Apple App Store
  • Ensure transparency about app removal requests by law enforcement
  • Protect lawful community tools from political censorship

This is about more than one app. It’s about the right to be informed, to protect your family, and to access tools that help immigrant communities respond to aggressive enforcement operations.

Silencing apps like ICEBlock doesn’t make anyone safer — it just makes people more afraid, more isolated, and more vulnerable.

If Apple allows law enforcement to dictate what kinds of community tools are permitted in the App Store, what gets removed next? Who decides what qualifies as “safe”?

Restore ICEBlock. Defend community alerts.

No censorship. No silence. No fear.
