The Issue

This program is the ONLY one of its kind statewide. For three years kids 9-12th grade had a vital safe space, somewhere they could be themselves and truly belong. Now, due to federal funding cuts, this life-changing program has been shut down, stripping future generations of this unique experience and opportunity. It's more than a program, it's a family. I've had the honor of being a Warriorette myself, so how could I not demand that same life-changing experience for the passionate dancers coming after me?

Dance has proven benefits for youth, promoting not only physical health but also improving mental well-being and academic outcomes. Studies by the National Endowment for the Arts show that students involved in the arts are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement. Removing these opportunities only deprives students of the chance to excel beyond the classroom.

Therefore, I urge our local school board and district officials to re-evaluate the current budget and reinstate the funding needed to revive the Warriorettes. Consider alternate funding solutions, such as applying for grants aimed at supporting arts in education or reallocating less critical funds. By prioritizing programs that build community, creativity, and resilience, we not only support our students' talents but invest in their future success.

Let us not let the legacy of the Warriorettes fade away, but rather fight for its future. Help us revive this incredible family so that many more students can experience the same sense of belonging and passion that I've experienced in one year. Please sign this petition to show your support for restoring funding to the Warriorettes dance team. Together, we can make a difference. #warrioretteforever
