Restore Democracy starting by reverting all 20mph limits

The Issue

The UK is no longer a democracy

Take 20mph speed limits for example, the main contender in the news is Wales, we all know this however in quiet rural Cambridgeshire as well as many other places we are fighting the same battles

Changes are being pushed through with no real public consultation and we can no longer trust those in charge (from any political party regardless of who is in power) to act in the public favor

with the 20mph limit Ramsey and bury town council at best made a token gesture to consult the people and yet remain adamant that they advertised these changes and the majority were in favor

There's been literally hundreds of complaints all over social media since the signs started to go up which proves the consultation methods are no longer fit for purpose

ironically there was recently postal notifications sent to all residents inviting them to view the new ramsey offices and making puns about " keyboard warriors ", not very professional for a council representing the community, so my question is why was this not done for the speed limit changes that impact everyone

there was a online form shared that you could submit as many times as you liked with no verification which (if people knew about) would have allowed this to be skewed massively

it was shared to a facebook page with sub 300 followers when the main ramsey page has over 14000 users and then later, only when it was too late was it made common knowledge

when changes like this are being made, we need a new robust system where all residents are notified, in a brief clear to understand communication and given the opportunity to vote properly.

no one is following the 20mph limit, and they're not going to, since the signs have gone up there's already been a crash! and i've had people overtake me and multiple cars doing over 40mph

we do NOT want this to continue to become a nanny state

we the public who the government and councils work for and represent want this and all other major decisions to go to a vote

sign this partition to restore democracy and to have all decisions (including the 20mph that's being forced on us) put to public votes, preferably with multiple ways votes can be submitted
