Restore Democracy - Remove the Senedd
The Issue
Formal Demand for the Closure of the Senedd and an Enquiry into Abuse of Power by the Senedd Regarding Addition of 36 New Members and Closed Voting System
WE ARE NOT BEING GIVEN THE CHANCE TO VOTE FOR WHO REPRESENTS THE PEOPLE OF WALES.
We, the undersigned citizens of Wales, hereby demand a formal enquiry into the recent decision by the Senedd to add 36 new members without subjecting this proposal to a public vote. This action constitutes a gross abuse of power, undermining the democratic principles upon which our society is founded.
The decision to increase the number of Senedd members without public consultation raises serious concerns regarding transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility. It is evident that such a significant alteration to the composition of our legislative body warrants thorough scrutiny and public input.
Worse still, the Senedd has now proposed a closed voting system depriving our fundamental rights to select our representatives.
What does this mean?
Where we were able to vote for a Senedd Member, (Vaughan Gethin) as an example, we will no longer have this choice, instead we will only be able to vote for a party. Labour, Plaid Cymru, or the Conservatives. The Independent Party are so small they are likely to get squeezed out, as are the Greens’ etc.
This is not DEMOCRACY, it’s DICTATORSHIP. We have the right to vote for who WE WANT, not who a particular party wants because their candidate dances to the tune of their leader
Furthermore, the allocation of resources towards the expansion of political representation at a time when pressing needs such as healthcare, education, and essential services are underfunded is deeply troubling. The public consensus is clear: the funds earmarked for additional politicians would be better allocated to address urgent issues facing our communities, particularly within the realms of healthcare and education.
Visit your A&E, visit your local park, speak to your children and their teachers THIS IS WHERE THE EXTRA MILLIONS SHOULD GO!
Therefore, we demand an immediate enquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the decision to increase the number of Senedd members and to ensure that such actions are in line with the will and best interests of the Welsh electorate.
We spend our time complaining.
NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT! STOP THESE GREEDY SELF SERVING POLITICIANS FROM DESTROYING WALES!🏴
Sincerely,
Steve Evans
