In the vibrant community of Pinole, we hold our educational and athletic institutions in high regard, recognizing their role in nurturing the future leaders of our society. One individual who has profoundly impacted the lives of students and athletes is Coach Troy McConico, M.A.Ed., whose legacy at Pinole Valley High School extends far beyond the football field.

Troy McConico is not just a coach; he is a Pinole Valley High School alum, a four-year honor student, star linebacker, and a role model whose career has inspired many. After an illustrious stint playing college football at North Carolina Central University, where he was a two-time Team Defensive MVP and All-League pick, Coach McConico returned to his roots with a wealth of experience and a Master of Arts in Education, ready to give back to the community that once nurtured him.  As a coach, parent of students in WCCUSD schools and cherished History Teacher at PVHS, Coach McConico brings professionalism, community knowledge and excellence to our school. 

Under his guidance, the Pinole Valley Spartans achieved the unimaginable by clinching the 2022 CIF Division 7-AA State Championship, as well as the NCS North Coast Selection title. His vision, dedication, and exemplary mentorship were instrumental in these historic victories, earning him not only the respect of his peers but also the adoration of students and the entire Pinole Valley High School community.

However, despite these triumphs and Coach McConico’s unwavering dedication, his position as the full-time Head Varsity Football Coach is now in jeopardy. This is a loss that not only affects the football team but also ripples through the community. Troy McConico’s commitment to education and mentorship remains vital for fostering a positive, driven, and energetic environment at Pinole Valley High School. Coach goes above and beyond to organize team-building school sponsored events. 

By restoring Coach McConico to his rightful position, we would be honouring his contributions, while ensuring that future Spartan generations continue to benefit from his guidance and expertise. His leadership exemplifies what it means to be a true educator and mentor, making significant impacts both on and off the field.

We urge the Pinole Valley High School administration and governing bodies to reinstate Troy McConico as Head Varsity Football Coach immediately. Let's safeguard the legacy that Coach McConico built and allow him to continue doing what he loves: shaping young lives through the power of education and sports.
