As a passionate tennis player living in Amarillo, TX, I've noticed the lack of public clay and grass courts available for us to play on. The absence of these surfaces limits our ability to diversify our skills and enjoy different styles of play.

Unfortunately, most public tennis facilities in Amarillo only provide hard courts. This is a disservice to our community's tennis players who wish to broaden their game or simply enjoy a change of pace.

According to the United States Tennis Association (USTA), clay courts are easier on the body than hard courts due to their softer surface. Additionally, grass courts speed up games making them more exciting for both players and spectators.

By restoring clay and grass tennis courts in Amarillo we would be promoting diversity within our local sports scene while also catering for those who prefer or benefit from these types of surfaces.
