Every child deserves a safe, clean, and welcoming place to play. Lakeview Estates Park #1 has long been an important gathering place for families in Conyers, but today it is in need of significant maintenance and investment.

As parents, grandparents, caregivers, and neighbors, we appreciate having a neighborhood park. However, during recent visits we documented several maintenance issues that deserve attention.

These include:

Missing swing equipment
Worn and depleted wood fiber (wood chips), leaving bare ground and uneven play surfaces
Mold and mildew covering the playground shade structures
Rusted basketball hoop and deteriorating court
Weathered and aging benches
Playground equipment that would benefit from cleaning and maintenance
Debris accumulating on accessible play features
Rockdale County’s own Parks and Recreation Master Plan previously identified maintenance concerns at Lakeview Estates Park #1, including deteriorating playground surfacing and a basketball court in poor condition. Unfortunately, many of these issues remain today.

This park serves neighborhood families every day. Investing in routine maintenance and future improvements will provide children with a cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable place to play while strengthening our community.

We respectfully ask Rockdale County Parks & Recreation and the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners to prioritize improvements at Lakeview Estates Park #1.

We are requesting:

✔ Replace the missing swing

✔ Install fresh engineered wood fiber throughout the playground

✔ Clean and restore the shade structures

✔ Repair or replace damaged benches

✔ Clean playground equipment and accessible play features

✔ Improve drainage and high-wear areas beneath the swings

✔ Repair or replace the basketball goal and resurface the basketball court

✔ Develop a long-term plan to modernize and expand the playground with inclusive equipment for children of all abilities

Our children deserve parks that reflect the pride we have in our community.
