Respectfully Request the Prevention of the Enactment of Cathedral City Cannabis Ordinance
The Issue
I moved to Cathedral City over a year ago from Los Angeles to pursue an opportunity that could significantly improve my life and circumstances. I secured a full-time position at Live Happy LLC, a business that has been cornerstone to my personal and professional growth. This job has not only helped me develop as a young professional, but also enhanced my family's opportunities for upward mobility.
However, the future of my career, community, and family is now under threat. The proposed city ordinance on cannabis odor introduces a three-strike rule. If the city receives complaints about odor on three separate occasions, there's a real risk of being shut down. Furthermore, this ordinance attempts to limit canopy size, which would directly impact the revenue our business, Live Happy LLC, is currently generating.
Cannabis businesses like ours are a vital part of the local economy in Cathedral City. We provide jobs, foster local economic growth, and contribute to the community's welfare. Restricting canopy size and introducing rigid odor regulations could cripple business operations, leading to financial instability for many families who rely on this industry.
Fulfilling all necessary regulations and standards should be our goal, but they must be designed realistically and fairly, respecting the livelihoods of those who depend on this industry. Supporting reasonable regulations will allow us to continue contributing to Cathedral City's economic development and social well-being.
I urge community members, stakeholders, and our city council to look at the broader impact of this ordinance. Understanding the ramifications it has on people's lives and livelihoods is crucial before implementing such rigid measures.
Please sign this petition to call for a fair, balanced approach that supports local businesses while addressing community concerns effectively. Let's protect jobs, families, and the vibrant economic environment of Cathedral City.
