STOP MINING EXPLORATION IN MACEDON RANGES REGION

Currawong Resources have applied for an Exploration Licence covering 280sq km in the Macedon Ranges, specifically affecting townships such as Kyneton, Tylden, Trentham and surrounding areas. They are searching for minerals that might indicate the presence of gold. And that’s exactly why I’m trying to stop this mine before it begins, by calling on the government to deny this mining exploration licence.

The Macedon Ranges are a beautiful, relatively unspoiled area, known for beautiful scenery, wildlife, gardens, historic buildings and for being a foodies' paradise, with outstanding restaurants and wineries across the region. The Macedon Ranges attract tourists from all over the world who enjoy historic buildings, a pristine environment and participate in a range of outdoor, retail and cultural activities and events.

Residents of these areas are naturally distressed at this Exploration Licence application, as if successful, will inevitably result in a damaged environment, a loss of amenity for residents and visitors alike. I moved to Kyneton in the Macedon Ranges because of its clean, beautiful environment, its history, its family-friendly amenities, and its beautiful fresh air. I would like to continue to share this beautiful region with all of you, residents and visitors alike.

If you live around the Macedon Ranges and don't want to live or raise your family near a massive hole in the ground, you can object to this mining exploration licence application here, by quoting Application number EL007048.

I need your help to do three things.

1.     Please sign this petition.

2.     Share it far and wide to show your support for the Macedon Ranges community who do not want this mine.

3.     Go directly to here, and lodge an objection to this proposal directly to the Victorian Govt.

I urge you to join me in taking these actions to protect this region and put an end to mining.
