Urgent Request for Traffic Calming Measures on Spa Hill

We, the undersigned residents of Spa Hill and the surrounding community, are deeply concerned about the ongoing issue of excessive speeding and dangerous driving on our road. This poses a severe risk to pedestrians, cyclists, and all road users, particularly vulnerable members of our community such as children, elderly residents, and people with disabilities.

The Problem:

• Vehicles frequently exceed safe speed limits.
• There have been car crashes, accidents to individuals resulting in injuries and fatalities in recent months and years.
• The road is used by the community to access schools, parks, shops, residential properties etc., making it particularly unsafe for pedestrians.
• Existing speed limits and signage are ineffective in reducing reckless driving.

Our Requests:

We urge Croydon Council to take immediate action by implementing effective traffic calming measures, including but not limited to:

1. Speed humps or raised tables at key points along Spa Hill.
2. Clear enforcement of the 20mph.
3. Speed cameras, as vehicle-activated signs do not deter speeding drivers.
4. Pedestrian crossings to improve road safety for residents.
5. Additional road markings and signage to alert drivers to the dangers.
