Residents Opposition to Brookland Park Construction Traffic Plan (PT17/5847/RM)

The Issue

A petition to address ongoing road safety and pedestrian risk to the residents of Brookland Park Estate, Stoke Gifford.

Crest Nicholson has submitted planning application PT17/5847/RM to use Oxleigh Way and Clover Way on Brookland Park Estate for site construction traffic to build the new phase 6 & 7 development. The proposal is to use this route 6 days a week up to and beyond 2027, with no current specified end date.

These roads are already dangerous and congested and near miss accidents have occurred with pedestrians and cyclists. Many children live on the estate and cross the roads on a daily basis, including every day to get to the local school via the proposed routes.

Crest traffic management on Oxleigh and Clover Way has proven ineffective to date with traffic regularly coming into the estate at the wrong end of Oxleigh way, including the East side where children cross to the estate's park. Crest has shown little care and attention to residents' concerns over traffic over the last 2 years and there is no evidence this will change.

The South Gloucestershire Council Case Officer has ignore residents' safety concerns and those raised by Stoke Gifford Parish Council and has motioned to approve the application. The Parish Council has intervened to call for a planning review in February. Residents have a last chance to raise their concerns and stop this plan by supporting the Parish Council and this petition.

Residents propose a new plan and investment in an alternative option to reduce risk to life and injury. They expect a full and independent safety assessment to be undertaken and an evaluation of the adequacy of the proposal from the perspective of reducing risk to life and injury.
