Residents of Lexington Heights AND Deer Trail Estates Deserve Clean, Affordable Water NOW!
The Issue
We deserve clean, drinkable water.
Consuming brown water or water with minerals may not be harmful; however, consuming water with an overly excessive amount of minerals and contaminants is not harmless.
The lack of accountability and transparency has led water damages to grow significantly worse for both subdivisions. Some homes became inhabitable, either the low grade water became unsafe to consume or the homes had no water supplied to their homes for several days at a time. Basic appliances, such as a washing machine, serve no purpose when it's completely clogged with discolored calcium rocks and discolored water is the only source of water entering the drum. This put families in uncomfortable situations, and some parents chose to find temporary living arrangements for the sake of their children's physical and mental health.
Children drink more water per pound of body weight than adults, which means they also ingest higher amounts of any harmful chemicals that may be present in the water.
These damages don’t take a break because it is the weekend or a holiday. We need the water quality results that truly illustrate what’s being supplied to every home in Lexington Heights AND Deer Trail Estates. Too many residents are out of a warranty on major appliances due to overwhelming water contaminent levels, including the tankless water heater. This is an essential appliance that supplies hot water to every plumbing line in a house.
Another important fact for a residential tankless water heater is the water quality test must produce results that do not exceed the MCL (maximium contaminant level). Rinnai set this standard as a requirement prior to installation. The warranty is void when instructions are not followed as specified in the installation guide. The water coming into a resident's home goes into the tankless water heater first, including regular tap water. Residents discovered newly formed discolored calcium rocks as a result of the tankless water heater heating the extreme hard water after it is released into every plumbing line in the home.
So, where are the water quality results and plumber’s report to support proper installation?
Where are the water quality results to support the water coming into every home AT the meter met minimum standards for public drinking water?
Every resident has requested their homebuilder for help on water damages. However, the homebuilders continue to ignore water-related requests to repair damages and a direct answer on the plan to mitigate the issue for current and future homeowners. The homebuilders and its trade partners, the developer, the water district and all affiliates point finger at each other anytime a resident is persistent on getting an answer.
Many of us were given documentation showing the City of Willis as the water supplier. It is the homebuilder’s responsibility to disclose correct utility providers, and then it is the responsibility for us as parents and homeowners to ensure this is a safe environment for our family. This absurd level of control the homebuilders have over new homebuyers makes the entire homebuying process deceiving because we end up with the home we never wanted and the homebuying process no one deserves. Our new dream home is waiting with excessive water problems. These unmindful decisions have consequences, and consequently an inspector could not have provided sound advice without accurate information prior to closing, such as a recommendation to have a master plumber inspect the tankless water heater and plumbing lines.
Homeowners continue to face a heavy emotional and financial burden after just purchasing a brand-new home. Every appliance, sink, toilet water tank, toilet, bathtub, and shower floors are stained brown or have extreme mineral buildup. Bleach cannot remove these stains. Extreme mineral buildup in our washer, dishwasher and water lines have resulted in unclean, smelly clothes and dishes after 3 back-to-back wash cycles. Every showerhead and faucet must be cleared of blockages after each use or it’s useless. All appliances must be cleared of blockages every other day or it’s useless.
A water tanker truck dumping water into the water well every other day is not enough to elevate the water quality nor does it temporarily alleviate water damages. Most residents, if not all, still have discolored calcium rocks flowing out of every faucet daily and foul-odor, discolored water supplied to our homes. Residents have flushed their homes for literally hours and sometimes up to four hours with very little change in the water quality.
Manufacturers will not replace appliances when the water STILL coming into each home is not only low grade, but it is low grade DESPITE paying thousands of dollars for a whole house filtration system and softener.
Furthermore, every home is continuously supplied low-grade water from water wells that have been under construction for months in Lexington Heights. The homes in the water wells’ immediate vicinity are still under construction. The result of construction workers choosing not to actively clean up when the workday is over allows trash and debris to fly into backyards and the fenceless, leaky water well.
No one deserves to pay a ridiculous $122 premium for low grade water. No one waives their right to bathe and to consume human grade water when they purchase a brand-new home.
BOTH Lexington Heights and Deer Trail Estates subdivisions deserve clean, drinkable, affordable water TODAY.
