Reduce the Proposed Parking Hours Glasgow North Kelvin and Woodside

The Issue

Glasgow City Council

North Kelvin and North Woodside Parking Controls Order 2021

Understandably traffic control must evolve, however the proposed new parking controls of 7 days a week from 8am to 10pm are overly restrictive for local residents, places of worship and small local community clubs and childcare businesses.

If these measures are to reduce commuter parking, as stated in the council letter, then Monday to Friday 8 to 6, would solve the issue and whilst allowing residents to have friends and family visit on evenings and weekends. Local community clubs would also be able to continue to operate without fear of additional costs driving away their members.

Weekday parking restrictions would also be the same as the neighbouring Napiershall and Woodside RPZ, and closer to those RPZ of similar size covering nearby Byres Road, Dowanhill, Hyndland, Partick and Park areas.

These new measures affect over 5,500 households

Collectively we want to be heard, if we are wrong then the hours can be increased at a later date, however initially we propose a more measured approach.

Rather than being so restrictive seven days a week and fourteen hours a day from day one.

Our Proposal - Mon - Fri 8am to 6pm.

These meters are going in and we have to live with that.

However if you agree that the hours shouldn't be so restrictive then please sign the petition and also ask your neighbours.

As a community we can be heard if we work collectively.
