The website CAMPEagleLake went live yesterday (Saturday) morning, before we participated in the Eagle Lake Tator Days parade.  I do plan to add more information when/if necessary as things progress.  I was able to add photos of the site, the lake, traffic concerns, etc.

Yesterday was HOT and thank you to all the residents who came out (or watched from indoors) to view the parade!  Due to the different format this year (because of coronavirus) the parade didn't allow material to be passed out, candy to be tossed, or even walkers.  The route was also longer to reach more people.

Our entry consisted of a pickup pulling a trailer with another pickup on it.  The purpose of our entry was not only to provide information about key concerns and promote the website, but to also demonstrate what 110 decibels (allowed at the Motorsports Park) sounds like.  When I submitted our entry and donation, I marked "Float w/Music" and crossed out "Music", replacing it with "sound" and put a note that to please call if any clarification was needed.  We received no call.  Minutes before the parade was going to begin, we had a parade official ask if we planned on starting/running the truck.  We replied that yes, we were.  He said that they had received a call from a "concerned citizen" (who perhaps drove by?) that our noise may be problematic for local autistic children.  He was very nice about it and gave us the contact to call another official to see what could be done.  We questioned, if our noise would be bothersome, wouldn't the same be true for the sporadic horn and sirens from the fire trucks and law enforcement?  (Note: our oldest - now 23 - has high functioning autism).  We were told that if the engine revving wasn't constant, that there would be breaks, it would be okay.  This was our intention to begin with, as it was meant to demonstrate the decibels reached with acceleration (coming out of corners, going down a straightaways, etc.).  We appreciate the officials asking questions and working with us to have a clear communication.

We received thumbs ups, one "Can't wait!" and many people taking in the information we had displayed.  It was a different experience from previous entries we have put in parades, but the intent was to reach more residents, get them to want to learn more and maybe even see this from a different perspective.  The developer can't guarantee success and has stayed behind the scenes for a YEAR, while intending to break ground this fall (permits and approval still needed). Where is his presence to promote this benefit to the community?  Is behind the scenes and under the radar really the way something like this should be approved as part of a community?

Additionally, there are 3 positions (2 council persons and mayor) on the city council up for election this year.
