The issue

For many years, I've witnessed the challenges and shortcomings of the workers compensation system in New South Wales. As both an injured worker and a manager, I've observed firsthand the distress and suffering of workers navigating a system that often fails to protect those it's meant to serve. My personal experience, coupled with the changes implemented in 2012, was harrowing, shedding light on a system that needs not an overhaul but a more effective application of already identified solutions.

The New South Wales government has spent invaluable time and resources investigating the issues plaguing the workers compensation system. From drawing insights from initiatives like the Parkes Project and embracing the 12 Principles to conducting multiple government reviews and inquiries, the solutions are well-documented and ready for application.

However, instead of consistent action and follow-through, the focus often shifts to rewriting legislation. This constant flux only leads to confusion and inconsistency, detracting from the core need: to implement, not overhaul, the lessons learned through rigorous study and real-world experience.

We urge the NSW Government to reset its approach and start implementing the solutions already proposed by experts. Let's not waste the insights we've already gathered by endlessly crafting new rules. The system doesn't need another overhaul—it needs the courage and commitment to follow through on the solid recommendations that have already been laid out.

By signing this petition, you voice your support for a better, more efficient workers compensation system in NSW—one that truly serves and protects its workers through thoughtful action rather than unnecessary reinvention. It's time we make this system work the way it was intended, standing firmly by the principles we've already established. Please add your signature to demand that the NSW Government press reset and apply the wisdom at hand.
