Dear RBI Governor We in India love our parents and our upbringing is based on the social system where both parent's are equally respected, unlike American or western system where priority is given only to mothers. I found that banks have adopted the American culture without thinking about Indian social structure and emotional bonding of Indians with both Mother & Father. In banks in earlier days only Father's name used to find place and with good efforts Mother's name is incorporated. Now banks have removed father's name from the record and form. This is not acceptable as for we Indians both Father & Mother are equally important and none of them is lesser important. Now, I want my Father's name also to be added as record in my bank account and bank says that their is no such provision in the form and records and the current practice is as per guidelines of RBI only. Why the bank is insisting on only my Mother's maiden name? This is an insult to my Father, my Mother and India's social system. I do not agree to this type of moral, mental and social culture which is not in agreement to my Indian values.   Any society derives it's strength from high moral standards and these kind of acts of degrading family values only down grades the social standards. I want banks to put the place where I can put my Father's name along with my Mother's name (both names). Please stop demeaning Father's place just to copy west. Their is nothing modern or advance in rejecting father's name. Those who feel ashamed of their father's name may choose not to put the name of their father at the place given but why banks have taken away my right of putting my father's name?     I request Reserve Bank of India to issue the guidelines to all Banks to incorporate the provision to put Father's name as a column in account form and to ensure respect for both paternal & maternal families.
