What is a Student General Meeting? 
A Student General Meeting (SGM) is the highest decision-making body of the student union. Holding a vote through an SGM would demonstrate student support for the demands of the UQ Gaza Solidarity Encampment as all students are eligible to participate in the meeting and have their say. 

For a Student General Meeting to be called we require at least 2% of UQ students to sign this request. (1,100 students)

We believe that student opinion is on our side and would like to demonstrate this to UQ, pressuring them to definitively take action to cut ties with weapons companies, disclose their investments and divest from companies complicit in Israel's genocide. 

The petition:

We the undersigned call for a General Meeting of the UQ Union to consider the following questions: 

‘Should UQ sever ties with companies that supply weapons to the Israeli Defence Force?’

‘Should UQ shut down the Boeing Centre?’

‘Should UQ financially divest from Israel?’
