Require West Bengal to become a zero horn state
The Issue
Our streets resound with an unbridled cacophony of vehicle horns night and day, assaulting our senses and stealing away our serenity. This constant barrage of noise pollution has quietly crept into our daily lives, becoming an incessant source of stress that we can no longer afford to ignore. Excessive honking is not just an innocuous blip amidst the urban symphony; it represents a silent public health crisis lurking at the periphery of awareness, poised to explode if left unaddressed.
For the people of West Bengal, the blaring of horns reverberates through our communities, embedding itself in the fabric of our everyday existence. It contributes to escalating levels of mental stress, an increased risk of heart disease, and heightened blood pressure levels among its countless victims. The imposition of relentless noise not only affects our physical health but also unleashes havoc on the mental well-being of our children and the elderly.
Children striving to focus on their studies, working professionals attempting to concentrate, and families enjoying moments of rest are interrupted by this relentless onslaught — a handicap to growth, productivity, and peace.
The environmental peace we so desperately seek is swiftly being eroded, replaced by the relentless, mechanical cries that we have learned to tune out, to our detriment.
The Government of West Bengal must take decisive action to correct this infringement on public peace and health. We propose the legislative drafting and enforcement of Motor Vehicle laws mandating the removal of all horns and noise-creating equipment from every vehicle, with the exception of emergency services like ambulances, police and fire fighters. Making West Bengal a zero horn state is not only feasible but imperative in safeguarding the physical and mental wellness of its residents. We bet, this will solve a huge number of allied problems like pedestrians walking on road and lots more.
We appeal to the policymakers to recognize the urgency of this issue and implement stricter compliance measures to permanently curb unnecessary noise pollution at the earliest. Let us pave the way for a healthier, more peaceful existence for ourselves and future generations by supporting the initiative to silence the streets of West Bengal.
Join us in this pressing cause — bring back the peace and harmony to our beloved state. Sign the petition and endorse a future where quietude reigns supreme.
