COMMUNITY UPDATE – YETMINSTER & WRIGGLE VALLEY
Thank you to everyone who continues to support the campaign to improve our river and local environment.
*Yetminster, Ryme Intrinseca and Hamlet PC Meeting Update*
Despite the petition now reaching 1,286 signatures, it was not included on the agenda for discussion.
A short, time-limited presentation was therefore delivered during the public participation section and response requested to a list of questions asked.
No comments or discussion followed from the Chair or Councillors in relation to either:
The petition
The proposed rainwater harvesting pilot project
WHY THIS MATTERS
This issue affects our whole community:
Untreated sewage continues to surcharge at Brister End
Discharges into the River Wriggle remain a concern
The river is still classified as having poor ecological status
The level of public support clearly shows this is an issue residents want addressed.
POSITIVE PROGRESS CONTINUES
Separately, a constructive meeting has taken place with Wessex Water:
The pilot project proposal has been discussed
A site visit is being arranged
Engagement so far has been positive
Meeting to take place with local MP Edward Morello to discuss petition and pilot project proposal
NEXT STEPS
We will continue to move forward by:
Working directly with key stakeholders
Building a community-led working group
Progressing the rainwater harvesting pilot
GET INVOLVED
We are now inviting local residents to be part of the solution.
