Thank you again to everyone who continues to support the campaign by signing and sharing the petition. The level of support from residents across the Wriggle Valley has been tremendous and is helping ensure that these issues are being taken seriously.

Following the recent Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) discharges, water samples were taken downstream of the affected areas to help understand the impact on the River Wriggle and its tributaries.

The latest results from the screening tests have now been received and E. coli has tested positive, indicating contamination consistent with sewage entering the watercourse.

These tests are screening tests, designed to indicate the presence of bacteria. To determine the exact concentration of bacteria present, more detailed laboratory testing will be required.

The Environment Agency has been informed of these initial results and I am currently awaiting their response.

Further testing will continue, including samples being tested for ammonia and phosphate, which can help identify pollution linked to sewage and nutrient loading within the river system.

Testing will continue over the coming weeks and the results will be collated to help build a clearer picture of the ongoing impact on water quality within the Wriggle Valley.

Over the coming weeks I will also be meeting with our local MP and District Councillor to discuss practical measures that could help reduce pressure on the sewer system. This includes proposals for a pilot scheme aimed at reducing the amount of rainwater entering combined sewers, which could significantly reduce the likelihood of CSO discharges.

Please continue to sign and share the petition so we maintain momentum and demonstrate the strength of support across the valley.

Thank you again for your continued support.
