Require traffic light at Lantana St and Hwy 98, PCB, FL
The Issue
The Issue
Living in Panama City Beach, Florida, we've all witnessed the frightening reality at the intersection of Lantana Street and Highway 98. This isn't just another traffic concern; it's a pressing safety issue that demands immediate attention. Highway 98 is notorious for its high speeds, and with the increasing volume of traffic, accidents seem more like an inevitability waiting to happen.
Every day, I worry about my family and friends using this intersection. Navigating across or turning onto Highway 98 feels like playing a dangerous game of chance. My personal connection to this intersection has made me realize that it's not just my safety at risk, but that of countless others in our community.
Statistics from the Florida Department of Transportation indicate increasing rates of accidents on similar high-speed intersections, and it’s only a matter of time before a tragedy strikes. Many residents have already experienced close calls or minor accidents that could have been much worse.
The installation of a traffic light at this intersection would significantly mitigate these risks. It would provide an orderly and safe flow of traffic, ensuring the safety of drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike. Implementing a traffic light might seem like a small measure, but it has the potential to save lives and prevent injuries.
There is a mega church at this intersection that every Sunday requires a state police to direct traffic and now this church is at least doubling in size requiring extensive traffic increases. There is also a no left turn into hwy 98 heading West which we’ve witnessed numerous drivers disobeying the no left turn rule.
By signing this petition, you are not just endorsing a traffic improvement; you are supporting the safety and well-being of our community. Take action now to protect what matters most. Call upon the local government and the Florida Department of Transportation to prioritize the installation of a traffic light at Lantana Street and Highway 98 in Panama City Beach. Your signature can make all the difference. Please sign and share this petition today.
