Require the uk to accept pets in plane cabins and Eurostar

The Issue

After my dad passed away, I took on the responsibility of caring for his beloved cat and had to relocate him from Italy to London, in a period that was already awful the rules that UK impose on pets’ transport made everything worst, I am sure I’m not the first one struggling with pets’ transport in UK and hope we can reach the 10000 signature required for the petition to be taken to the next step.

____
Moving to the UK has been a challenging transition, compounded by the stringent restrictions that the country imposes on traveling with pets. In comparison to many other European countries, the UK makes it incredibly difficult to travel with our pets, limiting them from accompanying us in plane cabins and onboard the Eurostar.

In Europe, many airlines allow pets to travel in the cabin alongside their owners, and trains such as the Eurostar offer comfortable and secure arrangements for pet travel. These options ease the stress and anxiety that both pets and owners might experience when separated during travel. It’s time for the UK to join other European countries in being more flexible and accommodating to pet owners, ensuring our furry companions don’t endure unnecessary stress.

Traveling with our pets should be more straightforward and accessible. Studies have shown that allowing pets to travel with their owners can significantly reduce stress levels for both parties, enhancing the overall travel experience. According to the RSPCA, nearly half of the UK households have pets, which suggests a significant demand for these services.

I propose that airlines and services like Eurostar adopt policies that permit pets to travel in the cabin or designated pet areas. This change would cater to the growing need for inclusive travel options, respecting the bond between owners and their pets while upholding safety and comfort standards.

By adjusting policies, the UK can demonstrate compassion and understanding towards pet owners, aligning with practices that are already standard in other countries. Let us push for progress and advocate for change so that traveling with pets is a privilege, not a burden.

Please sign this petition to encourage the aviation industry and Eurostar to bring their pet travel policies up to par with our European counterparts.
