Require the city of Newburgh to establish a tnr program for feral cats

The Issue

As a resident of Newburgh, NY, I have witnessed firsthand the consequences of an uncontrolled feral cat population. It is heartbreaking to see young kittens suffering from preventable illnesses like eye infections that leave them blinded. Since moving here just over a year ago, the number of kittens struggling to survive has been overwhelming.

Feral cats are not only a nuisance to residents by spreading diseases and parasites to our pets but pose a significant threat to the local wildlife.  Additionally, they cause damage to property with their territory-marking habits.

A Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program can be an effective, humane solution. By capturing, sterilizing, and then returning these cats to their habitats, we can stabilize the population, decrease the spread of diseases, and minimize property damage. This strategy has proven successful in numerous communities across the country, leading to healthier cat colonies, safer environments, and happier residents.

We urge the City of Newburgh to take action and establish a TNR program to address this pressing issue. Not only will this help in maintaining the ecological balance, but it will also improve the quality of life for all residents who wish to enjoy our community without the constant disturbances caused by the feral cat population.

Join me in calling on our local government to implement this much-needed program. Sign the petition to make Newburgh a cleaner, safer, and more pleasant place for everyone.
