Require Texas Roadhouse to have a quiet day

Require Texas Roadhouse to have a quiet day
The Issue
Our family cherishes the lively and warm atmosphere of Texas Roadhouse. However, the celebratory volume during frequent birthday celebrations can be incredibly distressing for my husband, a proud veteran, and some of our beloved family members who are on the autism spectrum. While the joy of celebration is something we deeply respect, it's important to create an inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of their sensory sensitivities, can enjoy a meal in peace.
Autistic individuals and veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can experience heightened anxiety or sensory overload in loud environments. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), autism affects 1 in 54 children in the United States, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs estimates that 11-20% of veterans from Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom have PTSD in a given year. These statistics highlight the significant number of individuals who might face challenges in settings where loud noises are prevalent.
To address this, we propose that Texas Roadhouse designate one day each week as a quiet day, free from birthday celebrations. This small change can have a profound impact, offering a safer and more comfortable experience for those with sensory sensitivities. Quiet days have been successfully implemented in various settings, such as sensory-friendly movie screenings and shopping hours, proving beneficial for those in need of a tranquil environment.
By signing this petition, you support the creation of an accommodating dining experience at Texas Roadhouse. Together, we can advocate for inclusivity and make dining more enjoyable for everyone. Let's work towards a small adjustment that fosters appreciation for all patrons, regardless of their sensory needs. Please add your signature to this important cause.
