Our Goals

We, the undersigned Medford residents and community stakeholders, support a transparent and collaborative planning process for purpose-built student housing. We ask the City Council and Community Development Board to have:

• Special Permit Requirement: Require a special permit for purpose-built student housing to ensure community review and discretion on projects.
• Ensure Meaningful Public Engagement: Provide clear public notice and accessible hearings for major multifamily and student housing proposals, allowing residents and other stakeholders to ask questions and provide feedback.
• Encourage Responsible Growth: Adopt planning policies that balance regional housing needs with the transportation, infrastructure, environmental, and neighborhood impacts of new development.
