Require Scott County animal shelter to accept cats

Require Scott County animal shelter to accept cats
The Issue
I have devoted years of my life to rescuing cats and horses, driven by an unwavering love for animals and the belief that they all deserve care and protection. It is heart-wrenching to witness the current state of our community, where feral and stray cats are left to fend for themselves. We are inundated with an overpopulation crisis that has reached unsustainable levels. Our community is pleading for action.
The Scott County Animal Shelter's current policy excludes cats, rendering these vulnerable animals without support and leaving our community helpless in managing the feral cat population. To address this critical issue, we urge the Scott County Animal Shelter to change its policy and accept cats. This is a necessary step toward providing these animals with the care and shelter they desperately need.
One effective approach to managing the population of feral and stray cats is the implementation of a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. TNR has been proven successful in numerous communities, helping control the population while ensuring that cats live healthy, safer lives. According to Alley Cat Allies, TNR programs improve the lives of feral cats, decrease the population over time, and reduce complaints about feral cats.
By accepting cats and establishing a TNR program, Scott County can take proactive measures to alleviate the plight of feral and stray cats. Our community deserves a compassionate and sustainable solution that considers the well-being of all animals. Ignoring the problem is no longer an option.
We implore the Scott County Animal Shelter to consider the implementation of these changes. Doing so will demonstrate a commitment to progressive animal welfare and show that Scott County cares for its vulnerable animal populations. If you believe in providing a safe environment for all animals and want to be part of the solution to this mounting crisis, please join us in calling for meaningful change.
Sign this petition to require the Scott County Animal Shelter to accept and support our community's cats, and help us implement a TNR program to effectively manage the feral cat population.
