The Issue

For 37 years, Soho Bagels and Cafe has been a beloved local establishment in Stoneridge Plaza, Greece, NY. We have proudly served breakfast meals to our community and have become more than just a place for food; we are a cornerstone of the community camaraderie. We donate to the Greece food cubboard every week, and provide food for the Veterans Association and St. Peters Kitchen. If a new Dunkin Donuts is allowed to move into the same plaza, it will not only violate our lease agreement but could also force us out of business.

We are petioning the Greece Planning Board hold a public hearing to address these concerns and prevent this catastrophic impact on local a business.

The arrival of such a large chain will siphon off our loyal customer base, and we will not be able to compete against their corporate pricing strategies. This not only endangers our business but also jeopardizes the jobs of our 28 dedicated employees who rely on this establishment for their livelihood.

The potential impact extends beyond business concerns. Traffic congestion in and around Stoneridge Plaza will certainly increase if Dunkin Donuts moves in, creating a "nightmare" scenario for all plaza businesses. The entrance to the plaza is not equipped to handle this additional volume with people turning left in front of traffic attempting to come and go into the plaza, leading to increased frustration and potential accidents.

We urge the Greece Planning Board to prioritize the needs and well-being of the local community over corporate interests. A public hearing will ensure that community voices are heard, that local businesses are protected from unfair competition, and that the potential traffic hazards are thoroughly examined.

Please sign this petition to preserve the spirit of our community, protect local livelihoods, and maintain the quality of life for all who visit and reside near Stoneridge Plaza.

We do not wish to leave the town of Greece, but can find no other suitable alternative than to close and move to another more welcoming community that cares more about the community than adding a 10th Corporate Coffee Chain to our wonderful town.
