Propaganda - noun :

“Information, ideas, opinions, or images, often only giving one part of an argument, that are broadcasted, published, or in some other way spread with the intention of influencing people’s opinions.” (Cambridge Dictionary)

The America I was born in and always passionately loved for not only being my country but because of its revolutionary laws and principles of individual liberty as well as its structure of government FOR the people by the people; I believe to be in great peril. I am deeply saddened by the divide we all see and feel here today. Left and Right is all we see now, however, I truly believe that is not what we are but what we have been made out to believe to be. The real enemy is the propaganda media.

With the simplest of searches through various dictionaries on the word “propaganda” it is very easy to quickly make the quick connection to a very prevalent entity in our modern society. The so-called “news”. The stated purpose of all news agencies is the objective of impartial journalism. However, while this once may have been the majority norm, today we live in a very different era of journalism in which the implications of differences are staggering and disturbing. No matter your party allegiance, we are Americans first and those with the smallest amount of common sense if being honest with themselves can see, the news today is anything but impartial.

Journalist used to always report news through stated facts, the idea of injecting opinions or personal bias was never the norm and to be named a great reporter meant no matter your political beliefs, you were relied on by all to keep up with current events. This style journalism is unrecognizable as depending on your source, same events will have wildly opposing  narratives in which are backed up by agreeable commentators or “contributors”. The days of political analysts with differing views being on the same channel to discuss policy are completely alien to most now.

the fact of the matter is when you turn on the news this election cycle to decide whom to vote for, if you turn on most channels, there is no choice. It is as if you are watching a candidates campaign team discussing why this person is right for the country and the other unthinkable. This kind of journalism MUST END.

Propaganda has become a tool used by various media outlets to manipulate public opinion, often leading to misinformation and increased polarization. According to a study by Princeton University, exposure to biased news sources can significantly impact political beliefs (Princeton University Study on Media Bias). It’s crucial that news reported with an agenda fitting textbook definitions of propaganda be clearly labeled as such.

As American citizens we are entitled to our individual rights of opinion as well as our rights to vote. However, with this despicable state of propaganda media outlets parading themselves as impartial news, our ability to form our own opinions in order to vote is severely compromised.

Propaganda is the invention and tool of communist/fascist dictatorships. The fact it exists in the United States of America should shock and anger every single American citizen and it must be put to an end!

I submit to my fellow Americans that we demand lawmakers to put together an agreeable definition of propaganda as it exists in our media today and demand that a spade call it self spade and nothing else. If you are media outlet that engages in national news reporting while doing so in a manner easily following the practices of propaganda, then you must have at all times have a clear and unmissable disclaimer along with your reports at all times warning viewers “WARNING: This is by definition PROPAGANDA”. In order to report without having to display this warning to viewers you must do so in manner that is devoid of opinions or biases in the form of biased rhetoric inserted along facts. Factual, verifiable information free of opinions must be reported to the people. 🇺🇸
