Numerous collisions occur where the lack of awareness of blind spots on HGVs has been a contributory factor, and yet the only thing that changes is the addition of mirrors and cameras to HGVs, which alleviate but do not cure. 

Road safety is everyone's responsibility: commercial drivers, private drivers, riders, cyclists and pedestrians. 

To improve road safety, it is crucial that all persons learning to ride a motorcycle or drive a car spend a day in an HGV. This experience will help them understand the perspective of the drivers of such vehicles and the visibility or lack thereof.

By gaining firsthand knowledge, new drivers can better anticipate and avoid dangerous situations involving heavy goods vehicles.
