Hi everyone,
Quick update — a lot has happened this week and I wanted to share where things stand, plus give you some practical tools to get involved.
Since launching this petition, we've now:
- Submitted a formal Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) screening request to Ealing Council
- Written to all three Pitshanger ward councillors requesting the application go to full Planning Committee
- Contacted Dr Rupa Huq MP asking her to support residents' call for independent impact studies
- Reached out to Ealing Matters, Hanger Hill Garden Estate Residents Association, Brentham Society, Pitshanger Community Association, and Ealing Civic Society
- Contacted Ealing Today and EALING.NEWS for wider media coverage
None of this is anti-housing. Every letter has made the same point: we support development done properly, with evidence that services and infrastructure can cope.
The formal planning application is expected in March. The window to build community awareness is now.
HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN DO — WITH READY-MADE MESSAGES:
1. Email your ward councillors
If you live in or near Pitshanger ward, your councillors need to hear from you directly — not just from me. The more residents who write individually, the stronger the case for this going to full Planning Committee.
Cllr Wesson: wessonb@ealing.gov.uk
Cllr Baaklini: baaklinir@ealing.gov.uk
Cllr Nijhar: nijhari@ealing.gov.uk
You can send to all three at once. Here's a message you can copy, paste, and adapt:
Subject: Proposed 190-home development at Queen's Drive / Greystoke site
Dear Councillors,
I am a resident of [YOUR STREET / AREA] and I am writing about the proposed 190-home development by TT Group on the former BT depot behind The Greystoke pub, Queen's Drive.
I am concerned about [PICK ANY THAT APPLY OR ADD YOUR OWN]:
- The impact on local GP services, especially since Pitshanger Family Practice lost its Pitshanger Lane premises
- School capacity at North Ealing Primary / Ellen Wilkinson School
- Traffic and pedestrian safety on Queen's Drive and surrounding streets
- The scale of six storeys next to two-storey conservation area homes
- Whether proper impact assessments have been carried out
I am not opposed to development in principle, but I believe a proposal of this scale needs proper independent assessment before approval.
I would like to request that:
This application goes to full Planning Committee rather than delegated decision.
Independent impact studies for GP capacity, school places, and traffic are required before approval
A community petition with over 125 signatures is asking for the same: https://www.change.org/ealingnorth
Thank you for your time.

2. Email Dr Rupa Huq MP
If you live in the Ealing Central & Acton constituency (which includes Pitshanger, Hanger Hill, and North Ealing), Rupa Huq is your MP.
Email: rupa.huq.mp@parliament.uk
Subject: Constituent concern — 190-home development at Queen's Drive, North Ealing
Dear Dr Huq,
I am a constituent living at [YOUR ADDRESS] and I am writing about the proposed 190-home development by TT Group behind The Greystoke pub on Queen's Drive.
I am concerned about [YOUR MAIN CONCERN — e.g. GP capacity / school places / traffic / scale / conservation impact].
Over 125 local residents have signed a petition asking for independent impact studies before planning approval: https://www.change.org/ealingnorth
A formal EIA screening request has also been submitted to Ealing Council.
Could you please:
- Support residents' request for independent impact studies.
- Raise the issue of local healthcare capacity with the relevant NHS body.
I would appreciate knowing your position on this development.
Yours sincerely,

3. Contact Ealing Council Planning Department
If you want the council to know residents are watching this application before it's even submitted:
Email: planning@ealing.gov.uk
Subject: Community concern — upcoming planning application at Queen's Drive / Greystoke site, North Ealing
Dear Planning Department,
I understand TT Group intends to submit a planning application for approximately 190 residential units on the former BT depot behind The Greystoke pub, Queen's Drive, North Ealing.
As a local resident, I would like to register my interest in this application and request that I am notified when it is submitted.
I am particularly concerned about [YOUR MAIN CONCERN].
I understand a formal EIA screening request has been submitted for this site. I would also like to know whether the council intends to require an Environmental Impact Assessment.
Thank you,

4. Join or contact your local residents' association
If you're already a member of any of these groups, please mention this development at your next meeting or forward the petition link. If you're not a member, now is a great time to get involved:
Pitshanger Community Association: pca@pitshanger.org.uk / pitshanger.org.uk
Hanger Hill Garden Estate RA: mail@hhgera.com / hhgera.com
Brentham Society: chair@brentham.com / brentham.com
Ealing Civic Society: info@ealingcivicsociety.org / ealingcivicsociety.org
Ealing Matters: info@ealingmatters.org.uk / ealingmatters.org.uk
A simple message like: "I wanted to flag a proposed 190-home development on Queen's Drive behind The Greystoke. There's a community petition asking for impact studies before approval — https://www.change.org/ealingnorth — I think the association should be aware of this."
5. Share this petition
The simplest thing you can do right now: share the petition link on your street WhatsApp, with neighbours, on Facebook, or with anyone who uses the area around North Ealing station, Pitshanger Lane, or Queen's Drive.
https://www.change.org/ealingnorth
Every signature adds to the evidence that this community is paying attention.
6. If you have local knowledge — share it
If you know specific details about GP waiting times, school admissions pressure, traffic incidents, flooding, or anything else relevant to this site, please share it in the comments or message me directly (massagecuppingealing@gmail.com). Real lived experience from residents is more powerful than any consultant's report.
The developer completed their consultation on 5 February. The planning application is expected next month. What we do in the next few weeks matters.
Thank you to everyone who has signed, shared, and commented. This is genuinely working.
More updates soon.
