Hello everyone,
Last week I attended the public exhibition for the proposed development behind The Greystoke pub.
One issue that stood out immediately — and which many residents raised — is school pickup congestion.
The image above is an illustrative snapshot of weekday school pickup time outside The Greystoke and nearby streets.
It reflects conditions many local families already experience:
• Parents with children navigating between parked cars
• Vehicles stopping or crawling at low speed
• Bumper-to-bumper traffic toward the station and bridge
• Limited visibility and very little margin for error
The developer confirmed at the exhibition that the proposed scheme includes no on-site parking, and that a significant number of new residents would be expected to rely on walking, cycling, public transport — or existing street space.
This raises a simple, reasonable question:
How will already-constrained school pickup and peak-time conditions cope with hundreds of additional residents?
At this stage, we are not opposing development.
We are asking for clear, independent impact assessments — covering traffic, access, schools, and safety — before any planning application is decided.
Thank you for continuing to support a careful, evidence-led approach.
