I wanted to provide an update on advocacy for closed captioning. On June 1, 2026, I contacted Mr. Bryan Crawford, Commissioner of the Ontario Hockey League, to ask what hockey fans can expect regarding captioning for the 2026–2027 season. I also asked about the responsibility of sponsors whose advertising appears on the jumbotron. To date, I have not received a response.

I have also been communicating with GoodLife about the need for closed captioning on its virtual on-site classes for members who are deaf or hard of hearing. Although this advocacy is separate from the petition, I wanted to share it in case this accessibility improvement may benefit you or someone you know.

GoodLife has been very supportive throughout this process. Their representative has kept me informed of the progress and hopes to have captioning available for virtual classes sometime this month. I appreciate GoodLife’s willingness to improve accessibility for the community, and I will share further updates as they become available.
