I’m happy to share a positive update. As I mentioned in my previous petition update, I have also been working with GoodLife to encourage closed captioning for the virtual programs offered at their locations.

GoodLife has been very receptive and has kept me informed throughout the process. I recently received an email outlining their work toward improving accessibility for Deaf and hard-of-hearing members, and I have included the detailed message below.

I have not yet received a response from the OHL about sponsors providing captioning at hockey games. I also have not yet received a response from Tim Hortons about accessibility in their advertisements.I plan to follow up with both organizations later this summer, before the next hockey season begins.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support and for helping to promote the petition. Your encouragement and advocacy make a real difference.

"Hi Laurie,

I’m pleased to share that closed captioning is now working on our virtual class players.

First, I want to apologize for the delay in getting this resolved. As we worked through implementation, we encountered a number of unexpected software and integration challenges that required additional troubleshooting and testing before we could deploy a reliable solution. While it took longer than anticipated, I’m very happy that we were able to get there.

Thank you for your patience and persistence in advocating for this enhancement. Accessibility remains an important priority for us, and we appreciate your feedback throughout the process.

When you have an opportunity to try a virtual class, I would love to hear about your experience with the closed captioning feature. Please let me know how it works for you and if there is anything further we should consider to improve the experience.

Thank you again, Laurie."

Warm regards,
