I wanted to provide a follow-up to my last update. To date, I have not received any response to the emails I sent to the companies mentioned in my previous updates. This is very disheartening.
At this point, I am unsure whether the idea of closed captioning has been abandoned, is still being implemented, or is already available. I will be attending many OHL games this season and remain hopeful that I will see some positive changes.
On a recent visit to my optometrist, I was informed that eyeglasses can now be prescribed with built-in hearing technology for individuals with mild hearing loss. What a breakthrough! If you are interested in learning more, I encourage you to visit Nuance Audio Canada. New technology is constantly evolving, which is why I am so frustrated by the lack of response and empathy from the companies I have contacted regarding accessibility concerns.
In the meantime, we all have a voice. If you have the opportunity, please speak up and express your support for this petition whenever possible. Every voice is important, and together we can help create positive change.
If accessibility efforts have come to a standstill, I will continue this fight for equal access and inclusion. Accessibility is not a privilege; it is a right.
Thank you for your continued support.
