The Issue

My son, a 14-year-old boy, was shot at a city park. The actions of the Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) on the scene were shocking and inhumane. They initially covered my son with a sheet as if he was already deceased. When they realized he was still alive, they removed the sheet and performed CPR. Instead of bringing a stretcher to my injured child, they picked him up by his feet and wrist and carried him to the ambulance.

This is not how we expect our loved ones to be treated in an emergency situation. It's time for accountability in our emergency medical services system.

We demand that all EMT personnel be required to wear cameras during their responses - similar to police body cameras - so that there is clear evidence of their actions during emergencies.

According to studies conducted by Cambridge University, body-worn cameras can significantly reduce both officer use-of-force incidents and complaints against police (Ariel et al., 2016). We believe this could also apply within the context of emergency medical services.

By requiring EMTs to wear cameras, we can ensure transparency, accountability, and ultimately improve patient care standards across all levels of pre-hospital care.

Please support this petition for justice for my son and all others who may find themselves needing emergency medical assistance. Your signature can help us bring about necessary change within our healthcare system.
