Require a lifetime registry for convicted child killers
The Issue
I lost my niece when she was three. She was beaten to death for not eating her food. Unfortunately, my story isn’t unique. It’s not something extraordinary that will never happen again. Lightning strikes are rare and unpredictable. But children being killed? That happens every single day.
We act like it’s out of our hands, but it’s not. Kids are dying, over and over, because we refuse to take real action. It’s time to prove we care enough to protect them — with laws that hold killers accountable.
Currently, laws regarding child homicide lack the necessary tools to ensure perpetual accountability and protection. Adults who brutally take the lives of innocent children often serve limited time and then walk free. We need "The Endia Law," or the Child Homicide Tracking (CTH) Act, to implement a lifetime registry for anyone convicted of killing or enabling the killing of a child.
A lifetime registry would work as a public record to monitor these individuals, providing law enforcement with an essential tool to track and supervise offenders. This measure will deter offenders and send a clear message: our society does not tolerate violence against its most vulnerable.
According to the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS), over 1,750 children died from abuse and neglect in the United States alone in the past year. This figure represents real lives, like my niece's, which could have been saved with diligent measures in place.
Many states have adopted similar registries for sex offenders, and the positive impact has been well-documented. These laws have given parents, guardians, and communities peace of mind, knowing they have the information needed to protect their children. We must now extend such protections to cases of child homicide.
The implementation of "The Endia Law" will not only bring justice for past victims but will work proactively to prevent future tragedies. This isn't about retribution; it's about prevention, accountability, and giving our children the childhoods they deserve—free from harm and fear.
Stand with us in demanding action from our legislators. Encourage them to pass "The Endia Law" and ensure that those who take a child's life are monitored for life. Sign this petition and help protect our children.
