Subject: Request to Delay Internal Ring Road Metro Work Until Completion of Metro 4 – Representation from Residents of GB Road.

Respected Sir,

We are writing to you collectively as concerned residents of GB Road and surrounding internal areas of Thane. We are fully aware of the city's rapid infrastructure development, including Metro 4, the Thane-Borivali twin tunnel, the coastal road, pod taxis, and road merger works.

However, we have learned that work on the Internal Ring Road Metro is likely to begin soon. While we fully support sustainable development, we wish to respectfully submit that the timing of this project will create an avoidable crisis for residents.

Our Concern – The Impact That Has Not Yet Happened, But Will:

At present, despite ongoing work on other projects, our internal roads of GB Road remain the only functional and relatively free corridors for daily movement. Once the Internal Ring Road Metro work begins, even this last safe corridor will be lost.

The following impacts are not hypothetical – they are inevitable:

Loss of the Last Safe Corridor: With construction on internal roads, every single route in Thane will be affected. There will be no alternative left for residents to reach schools, hospitals, railway stations, or offices.
Safety of Children and Elderly: GB Road has several residential societies, schools, and senior citizens. Once heavy machinery, open trenches, and diverted heavy traffic enter our internal roads, the risk of accidents, falls, and injuries will increase dramatically – especially for our most vulnerable residents.
Noise and Air Pollution: Currently, our internal roads offer some respite from construction dust and noise. Once the Internal Ring Road Metro begins, pollution will become a 24/7 reality for families living directly along the route, including young children and those with respiratory conditions.
Complete Disruption of Daily Life: School commutes, office travel, medical emergencies, and even basic errands will become unpredictable and time-consuming. What is currently manageable will soon become unlivable.
Our Humble Request:

We fully support infrastructure development; however, it must be planned in a way that ensures  public safety, environmental balance, and community well-being.
We are against starting it too soon.

We urge the Thane Municipal Corporation to:

Defer the start of Internal Ring Road Metro work until Metro 4 (Thane to Mumbai corridor) is fully completed and operational.
Allow residents of Thane to retain at least one functional, disruption-free corridor until other major projects reach completion.
Adopt a phased and humane approach to development, rather than surrounding citizens with construction on all sides simultaneously.
We believe this request is reasonable, practical, and in the best interest of public welfare.

We look forward to your positive response and intervention.

Yours sincerely,
Residents of GB Road, Thane
