Request the resignation of Romulus High School administrators

The Issue

As a parent and resident of Romulus, Michigan, I pay taxes expecting that my children receive a safe and impactful education during school hours. However, recent actions by the Romulus High School administration have jeopardized this expectation. Encouragement given to students to participate in a walkout protesting law enforcement is not what we entrust our education system to propagate. Instead of focusing on academic growth and the development of our youth, the administration seems to be steering pupils toward involvement in divisive matters that should not be the focus during school hours.

The principal, assistant principal, and other faculty involved in permitting such activities have strayed from the core educational values we expect. While encouraging civic engagement is important, doing so at the expense of classroom learning and safety is unacceptable. We entrust educators with the formative years of our children, and this trust is being undermined by the current leadership.

Statistics from reputable educational research bodies indicate that structured classroom time is fundamental for student success, shaping their future prospects and development. By diverting attention away from academics and encouraging actions that carry potential risks, the administrators in question are betraying this trust.

It is vital that swift action be taken to rectify this situation. We demand the immediate resignation of the Romulus High School principal, assistant principal, and any faculty members involved in these decisions. This is not a matter of stifling free expression; rather, it is about ensuring our children are placed in environments that prioritize their educational progression and safety.

Join me in calling for the school board to take necessary measures in restoring the focus back to academics and providing our children with the proper environment for learning. Let’s bring back responsibility and accountability to the leadership of Romulus High.

Sign this petition to support a safer and more academically-focused future for our students.
