Request the Huron County Prosecutor to Reevaluate Decision on Child Sexual Abuse Case

The Issue

I stand with the belief that our most valuable asset is our children. Their safety should be paramount, the protection of their innocence untouchable. Recently, we found our faith shaken as the Huron County Prosecutor chose to drop charges on a CSC 2nd degree case.

This shook not only our faith in justice but also threatens the sense of security we feel as parents and guardians. Child sexual abuse is a serious crime that we cannot, and must not, let slide. According to the National Children's Alliance, nearly 700,000 children are abused in the U.S each year (2018 report). This decision sets a dangerous precedent and effectively weakens the shield we built to protect our children.

I am urging everyone who believes in the sanctity of child protection, in upholding our laws, and in delivering proper justice, to join me in this plea. Demand that the Prosecutor in Huron County reconsider his decision. This is about upholding our laws including:

MCL 750.145c

MCL 750.520c

MCL 750.136b

The allegations on the police report state:

The perpetrator would have the small child sit on the perp’s lap and would watch adult pornography.
This would then escalate to the victim’s privates being excessively “washed” while the perpetrator would “moan”

In the report the child states “All I know is he wasn’t washing me.”

This is a call for justice, for understanding that every decision influences the welfare of our most precious ones – our children. Stand with us today, sign this petition, and let's demand justice together. Remember, the people of Huron County vote these members to protect our people and uphold our laws. With no conviction, this predator has full access to schools, parks, and any child within their grasp as they are not on the registry. This is NOT the first time this perpetrator has gotten away with this type of behavior, as there is at least one other victim documented unrelated to these crimes. We will not stay silent and will escalate this matter peacefully and we are confident justice will be served.
In addition to signing, you can also call the prosecutor:
