Request the City of Rosemead for Permanent Pickleball Nets at Garvey Park

Request the City of Rosemead for Permanent Pickleball Nets at Garvey Park
The Issue
Living in Rosemead, a vibrant community driven by sports and recreational activities, we are disheartened by the absence of permanent pickleball nets in our city. Pickleball, a sport that has been rapidly gaining popularity across the United States, is known for bringing people of all ages together in fun and fitness. However, pickleball enthusiasts in Rosemead are unable to enjoy this exciting and engaging sport conveniently because we must travel to neighboring cities just to find playable courts with nets.
This inconvenience not only limits our access to healthy recreational activities but also deprives Rosemead of the communal and health benefits that pickleball offers. The travel to other cities can be time-consuming and costly, especially for those who rely on public transit. As a community, we firmly believe that local infrastructure should support our wellness and recreational needs without necessitating travel beyond city boundaries.
The demand for pickleball access has been increasingly evident, with statistics showing a surge in pickleball play nationally; the USA Pickleball Association reports a nearly 650% increase in the number of players over the last six years. Yet, our city has not kept up with this national trend, leaving us at a disadvantage. We propose that the city of Rosemead invests in the installation of permanent pickleball nets in our local parks.
Doing so would not only promote physical well-being and social interaction among residents but also position Rosemead as a progressive city that embraces current cultural trends. Creating designated pickleball spaces would attract more visitors and boost the local economy, as players come to enjoy our facilities and in turn, patronize nearby businesses.
We urge the city council of Rosemead to take immediate action and allocate resources for the installation of permanent pickleball nets in our parks. By supporting this initiative, you will be enriching the lives of the community, fostering a healthier lifestyle, and building a more connected city. Please join us in this call to action and sign this petition to make accessible pickleball a reality in Rosemead. Together, we can create positive change for our community. Sign the petition today!
