Request the City of Ottawa to Reduce O-Train Bell Noise at Walkley Station

Request the City of Ottawa to Reduce O-Train Bell Noise at Walkley Station

The Issue

As residents of the buildings near the new Walkley Station on the Trillium Line of the O-Train, we have been enduring an incessant disturbance. During testing phases, we've already experienced how disruptive and annoying the loud bells of trains arriving and leaving can be. With a train projected to arrive and depart every 4 minutes (8 minutes between trains in each direction) when in full operation, this equates to us having to endure approximately 5 minutes of loud bell sounds every hour. This is not only a nuisance but also affects our quality of life.

We understand that these bells are essential for safety reasons; however, we believe there must be a balance between safety requirements and community peace. Many cities worldwide have successfully implemented noise mitigation measures for their public transport systems without compromising safety.

Therefore, we urge the City of Ottawa to take immediate action towards reducing the noise level from these O-Train bells at Walkley Station. We request that they explore feasible solutions such as adjusting bell volumes or implementing sound barriers around the station.

By signing this petition, you are supporting our plea for quieter living conditions around Walkley station while maintaining necessary safety measures. Please sign this petition and help us bring about this much-needed change in our community.
