Request Thadou Inpi GHQ for Clarity on Identity and an Apology for Insensitive Remarks

The Issue

We would like to bring attention to a concern within the Thadou community regarding Mr. Chongpu Kipgen, President, and Mr. Thangminlen Kipgen, General Secretary of Thadou Inpi GHQ. We are seeking transparency and a clear statement regarding their ethnic identities. This issue arose after a press release signed by these two individuals, where there appears to be a suggestion of dual identification as Thadou-Kuki. According to our principles, the Thadou organization accommodates only individuals who identify as pure Thadou. Therefore, we request that they publicly clarify whether they identify as purely Thadou or as Thadou-Kuki.

Additionally, the press release claims that they have never referred to themselves as non-Kuki, which has led to confusion and insecurity among the Thadou people. We also seek an apology for the harsh and undermining language used by the secretary towards the Thadou community. Such statements only create division and conflict, and we can no longer remain silent on this matter.

We urge Mr. Chongpu Kipgen and Mr. Thangminlen Kipgen to clarify these issues and issue an apology. We believe that such actions will help restore faith and unity among the Thadou people. Your support in this pursuit of transparency and unity is essential. Please sign this petition.
