Request re-locating Stratford Bus pick-up location from Hagey Hall to Lot E on Seagram Dri
The Issue
This request comes from a place of personal struggle and shared experiences of students residing in the surrounding locales of Albert, Lester, and King. The current location of the Stratford bus stop at Hagey Hall poses a significant concern, particularly in the freezing winter mornings. Barely managed sidewalks fraught with snow and ice make it a daily challenge to catch the 7:45 am bus.
I propose that the bus stop be moved from Hagey Hall to the more convenient Seagram parking lot (beside the UWP residence lot) Lot E on Seagram Drive. This will lessen the strain on students living off-campus for the winter term. The Seagram parking lot offers free parking and is relatively nearby, so it would prove to be a more practical and safer choice.
Moreover, the Seagram parking lot lies close to the ION station, which a majority of people use as their main source of transport. The relocation of the bus stop can help in creating a cohesive transport hub, benefiting many.
This important request aims to alleviate the difficulties faced by students daily and contribute to the overall transport convenience of the UW community. Please sign the petition and aid us in this crucial step towards better urban planning and wellbeing of our student community.
The bitter cold of early winter mornings presents a significant challenge as I, along with many other students, make the journey to the bus stop at Hagey Hall. However, it isn’t just the frigid temperatures that make the walk difficult—it’s the unplowed sidewalks and the constant risk of slipping. What adds to the frustration is the sense that we are being asked to endure these harsh conditions simply to access a critical transportation service. The system seems to overlook the physical barriers students face when trying to reach the bus, a vital link to campus and the resources we depend on.
