UPDATE!

Virgin Active are aware that moving to royalty free music is an unpopular move. Before the new music starts they hope to tie existing members into a 1 year contract by threatening them with large financial penalties to stay flexible. 

Sold as a special deal with incentives, the 1 year contract is on the condition you sign before 1st April - the day the royalty free music will be introduced.

I have personally spoke to VA head office and confirmed that if I don’t commit to a 12 month contract before 1st April my membership will increase by a massive 43%! 

Since the change to the music has not been officially announced, it could be surmised that the plan was to tie in members before  downgrading the gym experience. 

When asked about this approach and their treatment of long term customers VA replied: “You are within your rights to leave”

Of course we are, but we would prefer to be listened to and treated with respect!
