Request humane intervention for buck with tangled lights

The Issue

In the peaceful and picturesque community of Basinview/Carriageway/Madison, we are witnessing a distressing scenario that demands urgent attention. A young buck has been spotted in the area with a strand of Christmas lights entangled around its antlers and throat, visibly struggling to eat. As compassionate members of this community, we are deeply concerned about the welfare of this innocent creature.

We have reached out to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), yet their response suggests that a resolution may not come swiftly, particularly over the weekend. The DNR's traditional approach, unfortunately, often involves lethal measures. Consequently, we are advocating for a more humane intervention.

Hope For Wildlife, a renowned wildlife rescue organization committed to animal welfare, has suggested that this case should best be managed by DNR. Despite Hope For Wildlife's proven track record, including a deer rescue in 2012, they are constrained by regulations that prevent them from treating adult deer.

This situation prompts us to appeal for a collaborative effort between the DNR and Hope For Wildlife to ensure the safe rescue and treatment of this tangled buck. We urgently call upon DNR to work with Hope For Wildlife to administer the necessary assistance to the deer, prioritizing non-lethal methods.

The need for a compassionate response not only preserves the life of this buck but also upholds the values of our community that cherishes and protects its wildlife. Our wildlife deserves better, and humane interventions should always be the first response.

Please join us in urging the DNR to collaborate with Hope For Wildlife to rescue the young buck. Your support can make a difference in advocating for a compassionate resolution. Sign this petition to stand with our community in protecting our wildlife.
